Statement of Accessibility

The Insurance Thought Leadership group is committed to providing an equal and quality experience for everyone. We're constantly working towards improving the accessibility of our website to ensure we provide equal access to individuals with disabilities including those with visual, hearing, cognitive, and motor impairments.

Wherever possible, we strive to conform to level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines provide a foundation for how to make web content more accessible for people with various disabilities. We believe not only in conformance with these guidelines but that optimization around them will help make the web more user-friendly for everyone.

Known Exceptions

While we put our best effort into meeting the success criteria outlined in the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, we recognize that at this time, there are sections of our site that are not accessible or may be difficult to navigate, particularly for screen reader users.

Some of these sections are powered by third-party plugins that we recognize are not at the level of accessibility for which we strive. These sections include:

  • Menu Tabbing Order and State Indication - When a visitor is navigating the site via keyboard and activates the Main Menu - represented by a hamburger icon (3 stacked rectangles) - keyboard focus doesn’t properly shift to the links within the expanded Main Menu panel. In addition, there isn’t an auditory indication to the visitor about the state of the Menu - either expanded or collapsed. A future update will overhaul the Main Menu so that keyboard focus is properly shifted into the panel and there is an auditory indication of changes to the Menu state.

  • Form Field Focus Indicators - When navigating into Newsletter Sign Up Forms - either the single email address or popover version - there is no visual indication to a visitor within which field they are currently focused. A future update will add clear visual focus indicators to form fields to make it easier to identify which field is active.

  • Page Heading Order - Throughout the site, there are pages that don’t reflect an ideal Heading order which can present challenges for screen reader users to move sequentially through the content. A future update will ensure Pages include a single top-level Heading as well as an improved Heading outline.

  • “Skip to Main Content” Link - While a “Skip to Main Content” Link is present, it is not properly moving to the main content of the Page when activated. A future update will correct this functionality so a visitor who activates that link skips to the main content of the current page.

  • Text Alternatives For Images: Multiple images throughout the site that don’t currently have text alternatives provided to describe the content of the image. These images are currently being reviewed and alternative text is being written and updated on an ongoing basis.

We are actively working on improving the experience in these and other impacted areas, either by working directly with vendors or seeking out more accessible alternatives. Please be aware that our efforts to remediate any issues with these sections are ongoing.
